THE PERFECT WINTER WONDERLAND

With Christmas creeping up on us very quickly, many of you will be starting to put your Christmas decorations up to create a Winter Wonderland for all your family. And you know what, a stove looks even more stunning with all the decorations around it. Commonly, the stove is the centre piece of any room anyway but transform it into your Christmas focal point to catch the eye of all the visitors you will be having over the Christmas period.

There are many different approaches to take when decorating your house for Christmas. Here are a few top tips to help you create a stunning winter wonderland in your own home.

CONTEMPORARY STATEMENT

If you are wanting to create a contemporary statement with your Christmas décor then stick to the bold colours, like the traditional Christmas red. Or even go ultra-modern and choose an out there colour as your main theme. Once you have chosen a main theme colour, try to stick to this when deciding on ornaments for the mantel piece and baubles for the tree. One thing that is ‘in fashion’ this Christmas is the bold wooden letters that spell out something Christmassy e.g. ‘NOEL’ or ‘MERRY CHRISTMAS’. These wooden letters in a bold colour would look stunning on a mantel piece and also fit it with your contemporary statement that you want to make in your home!

THE GREEN EFFECT

Another great approach to take is the very traditional ‘Green Effect’. Style your home, including your mantel piece, with as much fresh greenery as possible and then decorate with all the Christmas colours to create the perfect focal point over the Christmas period. Not only will this bring the stunning beauty of a real tree and garlands but it will also bring the smell of fresh plants into your home, creating the perfect Christmas atmosphere while enjoying your delicious Christmas dinner.

SIMPLISTIC STYLING

If you are more of a simplistic kind of decorator, then you don’t have to change this just for Christmas. If you choose the right decorations, a simplistic style can create a lot of drama. As they say sometimes less is more. When choosing decorations, make sure you stick to the more toned down colours, for example silver or white. Festive silver ornaments on your fireplace, above your stove, will provide you with that elegance and sophistication you are wanting.

If you are not a very festive person but still want to spread the Christmas spirit, a good thing to go for on your mantel piece is candles dressed with white or silver ribbon. This will give that Christmassy feeling without being too much in your face as soon as you walk in a room. These candles will also be perfect to light the room when you are catching up with friends and family late on into the night.

But just remember, when decorating around a stove always make sure to leave a big enough distance to ensure no accidents will take place when the stove is lit!
