Packing up for Summer

There are a few things you can do during the summer months to ensure your stove is ready for another hard-working winter. As you won’t be using it as much in Summer it is perfect time to get your stove spick and span. While you are enjoying the warmer weather outside, ensure your stove is looked after and bedded down for the summer.

Cleaning

One of the first things to do is give your stove a good clean. Burning wood can cause all sorts of dirt and if this is left over a long period of time it can start to corrode your stove and its parts. Here are a few helpful tips on cleaning your stove:
• Never clean your stove while hot.
• Use your vacuum to get rid of any excess ash.
• Be gentle while cleaning your firebricks, a soft brush is recommended.
• If there are any signs rust, catch them quick. Use wire wool and stove paint to get your stove looking brand new.

Spare Parts

The summer months are the perfect time to give all the stove parts a check and ensure there are no problems. Keep an eye out for cracked glass, damaged rope, gaps and holes. We sell a wide array of spare parts for different brands so if you can’t find what you are looking for here , don’t hesitate to give us a ring.

Last thing to do

Once everything has been checked and cleaned, a helpful tip is to leave the door slightly open. This ensures there is sufficient air flow and ventilation to prevent corrosion.
If all these steps are followed, then your stove should be primed to perfection and ready to use when winter comes around again.
