Whether you’re looking for contemporary or traditional wood-burning stoves there is no doubt you are spoilt for choice today. Whatever your budget, whatever style you’re looking for and whatever the level of heat output required, there will be something for you. However, in the midst of the often crowded contemporary stove market has emerged the Dovre Rock 500 wood burning stove, a stove we think is worth taking a second (third and fourth!) look at.

The look of a Dovre Rock 500 wood-burning stove

Look at the Dovre Rock 500 Stove

In an age where cylindrical, square and traditional shaped wood-burning stoves are still flying off the shelves, it is a relief to see the likes of Dovre looking away from the crowd towards something very different. As soon as you see an image of the Dovre Rock 500 wood-burning stove you will know exactly what we mean!

The best way to describe this wood-burning stove is like an old television set, elongated with an extended viewing screen and some great images. It also has the option of a leg, tablet or wood base which makes it that much more popular together with the option of a variety of different handles. The stove itself has dimensions of width 660 mm, height 705 mm with a depth of 375 mm and weighs in at 130 kg. The flue diameter is 150 mm and the stove itself has a heat output range between 3 kW and 9 kW.

Features of the Dovre Rock 500 wood-burning stove

The body is an all cast iron construction with an easy to operate air slide and nominal heat output of 7 kW. The efficiency of this model is around 80% and it is able to accommodate logs with a maximum length of 500 mm to ensure long burning. The airwash system is the latest on offer ensuring that the viewing screen glass is always clean and you can watch the flickering flames and the burning embers to your hearts content. The cleanburn system ensures that as much heat and energy is extracted from the wood fuel as possible, using gases from the primary combustion process to increase the output yet further.

Like so many of the modern day wood-burning stoves they may look relatively simple on the surface but beneath that cast-iron exterior is the latest in wood-burning technology and airwash cleaning systems.

Traditional or contemporary setting

The beauty about a contemporary stove is the fact that it can be at home in a traditional decor or a contemporary environment. This is just one of many contemporary shaped wood-burning stoves being released by Dovre which in our opinion are set to take the market by storm. There is nothing wrong with the traditionally shaped wood-burning stoves or the cylindrical offerings but this one has something magical about it, something special.
