Christmas is an amazing festive period and nothing is better than sitting in front of your wood burning stove drinking mulled wine!<\/p>\n

So, to get the most out of your wood burning stove this Christmas, we have\u00a0created this blog post to remind you of\u00a0the essential things you should be doing. Be prepared!<\/p>\n

Step 1: Get the Chimney Swept<\/h3>\n

You may have already been prepared and had your chimney swept during Summer or Autumn. Even the most modern and efficient stoves still leave residue, so you should always get your chimney swept regularly. If you haven't had it done yet, then it's not too late. We have some amazing chimney sweeps, so get in touch.<\/p>\n

Step 2: Check your Stove and it's Seals<\/h3>\n

You should always be visually checking your stove, making sure there are no cracks and the seals are\u00a0not broken. This includes checking the doors, glass and any other area that may have a seal.<\/p>\n

It is extremely important that the seals are intact and there are no gaps in any panels to let air into the stove or smoke and gasses into your room. Any gaps can be filled with fire\u00a0cement<\/a>\u00a0and always buy your stove spare parts<\/a> early. If you need any help, then pop over to our stove web site<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Step 3: Stock up on fuel<\/h3>\n

Be prepared! You don't want to run out of fuel over the festive period, so stock up on firewood now.\u00a0Chose your fuel, either seasoned firewood <\/a>or hardwood briquettes<\/a>, and make sure you have moisture meter<\/a> to check the firewood before burning.<\/p>\n

Step 4: Check smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors<\/h3>\n

Safety\u00a0is paramount. Ensure you\u00a0regularly test your carbon monoxide detectors<\/a> and smoke alarms. Also check your hearth and ensure no Christmas decorations are anywhere near your stove.<\/p>\n

What else can you do to prepare?<\/h3>\n
