Why do I need to know about flues and chimneys?<\/h3>\n

You may have already decided to purchase a gas stove over a wood burning stove and this may have been for a variety of reasons. But before you go ahead and purchase a gas stove, you still need to know\u00a0what kind of chimney or flue system you currently have, or you may not have one at all. This is extremely important as it will\u00a0dictate which gas stove types you can purchase. Conventional Flue: brick\/stone (class 1)<\/h3>\n

This is easily identified by seeing a chimney stack that rises above the roof line. It will also be topped with a traditional chimney pot or gas terminal. A brick\/stone chimney uses natural circulation of heat to expel the waste.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Conventional Flue: Pre-fabricated<\/h3>\n

A pre-fabricated flue (class 1 & 2) is\u00a0identified by seeing a metal flue cowl on the roof of your\u00a0property. They vary in style or design but are generally the same and easily identified.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Conventional Flue: Pre-cast<\/h3>\n

A pre-cast flue (class 2) is usually found in modern homes. They normally take the appearance of a raised ridge tile on the roof.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Balanced Flue<\/h3>\n

If you already have a balanced flue or would like to install one, then no\u00a0chimney is required.\u00a0This type of flue uses a twin-wall pipe, which is a pipe from\u00a0your stove to the outside\u00a0through an external wall. These can be installed\u00a0vertically through the roof of your property or horizontally through an external wall.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Powered Flue<\/h3>\n
